Tanjung Uncang, Batam — Behind every majestic vessel that braves ocean waves lies countless hours of labor, the spark of welding torches, and a commitment to high-precision engineering taking place every day at the shipyard. This week, we invite you to take a closer look at how the construction of the 300′ x 80′ x 20′ Barge (H-1321 / Cakrawala XXXV 2024) is being brought to life by the team at PT ASL Shipyard Indonesia, Batam.
Real Progress: Moving Ahead of Schedule!
The construction of the H-1321 barge has now entered its 10th Week (November 01–07, 2024). Thanks to strong teamwork on the ground, the project has successfully achieved a cumulative progress of 27.87%. This figure places the project in an Ahead status compared to the initial baseline plan (with macro targets tracking steadily, driven by strong performance in fabrication and erection milestones).
Here is a summary of this week’s progress across work areas:
- Engineering: 19.30% (Technical design and planning completed on schedule).
- Procurement: 6.60% (Procurement of steel materials and equipment running smoothly).
- Production: Fabrication of bottom panels, transversal bulkheads, side shells, and main deck structures is accelerating continuously.
Dedication on Deck: Working Steel Under the Sun
Every day, approximately 25 to 32 skilled workers and experts (Manpower) are deployed to cut steel plates with CNC precision and weld primary structural components. Despite fluctuating weather conditions and temperatures in Tanjung Uncang, the spirit and resilience of our technicians and operators never waver. From day-shift operations to in-depth technical inspections, every moment is maximized to ensure the hull construction is built solidly to RINA Class specifications.
No Compromise on Quality and Safety (Zero Accident)
For us, speed means nothing without uncompromised quality and workplace safety. Throughout this week, a series of internal quality checks—including Request for Inspections (RFI) and visual welding inspections—were rigorously executed.
Key inspections included:
- Visual welding inspection on bottom panels (Fr. 0-10 & Fr. 20-30).
- Transversal bulkhead and main deck panel welding inspections.
- Side shell structural checks.
All inspections this week have officially received a CLOSE status. Most importantly, all operations proceeded with a Zero Accident record. Safety is not just a slogan at our shipyard; it is an everyday working culture.
Next Steps
Construction will continue into the main deck erection phase, side board preparations, and internal tank air tightness tests in accordance with the master project schedule. We believe transparency builds trust. Through these field notes, we want you to experience firsthand the dedication and hard work poured into delivering top-quality maritime assets for Indonesia.
Stay tuned for our next field progress update!
